Also, congratulations to our boys basketball team on their victory Friday evening over Oak Hill 62-37.

Seniors: SOMC is actively recruiting pharmacy technicians. View the flyer for more details. You can work as a pharmacy trainee while you are receiving your education/training. You have one year to work as a trainee while you are being educated. Starting salary of a trainee is around $12.00. Inpatient technicians starting at $14.22 with no experience.
From Heidi Kauffman, Academic Advisor, College Credit Plus at Shawnee State University: [This is] a video that we made for school visit #3 about the study cycle. This video, like the last one, is around 3 minutes long and was designed to be enjoyable to watch. The study cycle is based on LSU’s research in “Metacognitive Learning Strategies.” I cover these strategies and more in an Academic Coaching session that we offer to any student who wants to improve their knowledge retention and maximize their time spent studying. I have been amazed by the results that students achieve when they use these strategies! We also offer free virtual tutoring this year, as well as Math Lab access for any student off campus in a dual credit course. Please send any students that you know who might benefit from academic coaching, tutoring, or the virtual math lab my way!

PWHS Senior Class will sponsor a Red Cross Blood Drive on Thursday, 2/4/21. All participants must provide an ID, and students 16yrs of age must provide a parent signature. Please contact carolyn.callihan@westsenators.org for more information. Participants, please enter through the gymnasium side of the building.
Congratulations to our boys and girls basketball teams on their victories this past weekend. The boys defeated Portsmouth 43-42. The girls defeated Eastern Pike 71-36.
Great job both teams!
The Home Girls Basketball Game originally scheduled for 1/28 has been rescheduled for Saturday 1/30/21 at noon.
Any Junior girl interested in running for Miss West needs to sign up in the office by Thursday, February 4th. If you are making a campaign poster, it must be on a standard poster board and dropped off at the office for approval by February 4th.

Portsmouth West High School baseball and softball programs will be holding tryouts on February 22, 2021. Please make sure your players have completed their final forms and hold a completed physical form. Students and Families,
As the health situation in the county continues we have noticed some students are having issues with their online learning. In order to encourage students to develop a routine and maintain contact with their teachers, next week we will begin issuing a "daily check-in" form sent through the student email. Students will be required to complete this form by 12pm daily in order to check in with the school. Included in the form are questions regarding student wellness as well as academic progress. This check-in will be tied to daily attendance. It's extremely important that your child completes this form daily. Please help your student to remember to check in daily on their email to complete this form.
