Mr. Anthony Bazler

After 24 years of service at Washington-Nile Local School District, Superintendent Anthony “Tony” Bazler announced his official retirement effective June 21, 2025. Mr. Bazler served first as assistant principal and then principal of Portsmouth West High School before taking on the superintendent role in 2019. Though his roles included administrative positions at WNLSD, his initial years in education included teaching history in Springfield and serving as a guidance counselor and adult services director at Scioto County Career Technical Center.

Mr. Bazler intends to spend his retirement enjoying the outdoors as he is  a long-time cyclist and camping enthusiast. Along with his outdoor activities, he especially enjoys spending time with his wife, Barb, and two sons Aaron and Andy (with wife Amber and daughter Lucy). Mr. Bazler says, “I am thankful to have served as an administrator with the district for the past twenty-four years.  However, it is exciting to be moving into my new role as ‘full-time grandpa.’ I greatly appreciate the opportunities to have worked with the students, staff, and community of West Portsmouth.”

Washington-Nile Local Schools would like to return that sentiment and extend our deepest gratitude for Mr. Bazler’s many years of service, loyalty, and dedication to our district. We wish you the best in all your future endeavors!
