On behalf or the Special Education Dept. we would like to invite you to participate in the 2021 "Light it Up Blue" Autism Awareness Day at the Washington-Nile Local School District.
All proceeds will go the the Autism Project of Southern Ohio (located in Portsmouth).
Donations will be collected at each building on Friday, most likely during first period.
The HS already has some Autism activities going on this week, thanks to the PWHS Key Club. If the Key Club can raise $500, this donation will be matched! Let's help them reach this goal and beyond!

This week in sports 4/26/21
Seniors and parents,
It’s that time! Graduation is around the corner, and I’d like to create a slideshow to run the hour before the ceremony starts. The slideshow will have the theme of “then and now,” and, thus, we will need a baby (birth to age 4ish) picture and a current picture. They can be either digital files (jpg, jpeg, png… no Google docs) or printed pictures or a combination of both. Send digital files to kristie.copley@westsenators.org and print photos to Mrs. Copley, PWHS librarian. Because it takes a considerable amount of time to scan and save that number of image files, all pictures must be submitted to Mrs. Copley by Friday, May 21.
Note: You may come back to pick up any print photos after May 28 or provide a self-addressed and stamped envelope for them to be returned by mail.
The home baseball game for tonight (4/21/21) has been cancelled.
Financial Aid and FAFSA Night
April 28 at 5:30pm
Join us at PWHS for an evening of valuable information about financial aid and assistance in completing the FAFSA. This event is open to all area students (both high school and college) interested in learning more about financial aid and getting assistance in completing the FAFSA.
**PWHS will provide FREE dinner and dessert to all attendees**

Covid protocols will be followed as you will be required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing.
West Senators,
Portsmouth West High School is partnering with SOMC to offer a COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic for students aged 16 and older.
The clinic for West students will be held at SOMC on Friday, April 23 from 9:00am-11:00am. PWHS will provide chaperones and school transportation to the clinic. Students may also provide their own transportation and enter through the front lobby doors. The clinic will be located on the left of the lobby beside the Gift Gallery. Students may have one adult visitor to accompany them if they would like.
SOMC has provided a registration and consent form (link below) that MUST be filled out and signed by the parent/guardian and returned to the school by Wednesday, April 21 at 3:00pm. These forms can be found on our school website under the COVID tab. Hard copies are also available for pick up in our main office.

Prom Announcement
Juniors and Seniors,
Due to anticipated inclement weather, the Prom and Grand March will be moved to the gymnasium. The Grand March will begin at 6:30. We will divide it into three sections and vacate the gymnasium each time. Students will be given three tickets to distribute for others to attend. Tomorrow, students will be informed which section they will participate in.
Tonight's athletic events (4/14/21) are cancelled. Baseball is rescheduled for tomorrow. Softball is rescheduled for May 1st. Tennis is rescheduled for May 3rd.
Juniors and Seniors
Prom is Saturday, April 17th. Grand March begins at 7:00pm and the Prom is from 8:00-10:00pm. If you have not already done so, please sign up in the office. If you plan to bring a guest from another school, forms are in the office and must be returned by Thursday afternoon. All Juniors and any non-West High School guests must purchase a prom ticket for $20.00. See Mrs. Distel for tickets. The cost includes your dinner and games at the Prom. There is no charge for Seniors.
COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY JUNE 4TH AT 7:00
In order to accommodate more people, we have decided to move graduation to Friday, June 04 in the stadium beginning at 7:00. Rain date will be Saturday, June 05 in the stadium beginning at 7:00. If we there is rain on both of these dates, we will have graduation in the gymnasium on Sunday, June 06 beginning at 2:00. Information on tickets will be released at a later date.

PWHS Yearbook
SOMC will follow the new phases for COVID vaccinations as outlined by the Ohio Department of Health. In this new phase, those eligible to receive their vaccine will now include:

The FREE Sports Physical timeline is May 1st – May 31st. By placing the Free Sports Physicals while school is still in session will help for communication to the athletes and parents as well as the return of the form by the athlete to the school.
Please reach out to your athletic trainer if you have any questions.
Student athletes that they are required to:
- Student athlete must have OHSAA/KHSAA Form filled out when they arrive.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION. Please review the eligibility requirements to determine if you qualify.
Also, remember that regardless of what the scholarship says on the application, all in-house scholarships are to be submitted by the deadline of April 12.
