Dear Parents, Teachers and Guidance Counselors,
The Gifted Services Department of the South Central Ohio Educational Service Center offers scholarships to students currently enrolled in grades 5 through 11 who have been identified as Gifted (through Ohio Dept. of Education approved assessment) to attend Summer Enrichment Programs. We do not offer our own Enrichment Programs, but rather help students with the costs of attending their own chosen educational Enrichment Program. The costs of Summer Enrichment Programs can vary a great deal. The amounts we award will fluctuate from year to year according to the amount of money available from sponsors and the number of students who apply for the scholarships. Generally speaking, the ESC will award up to $500 for elementary students (grades 5 & 6), up to $1,000 for junior high students (grades 7 & 8), and up to
$1,500 for high school students (grades 9-11).
In order to be eligible for scholarships, students must apply to both the ESC and to the Ohio Association for Gifted Children (OAGC). In order for parents to better understand the application process we will be holding an informational meeting to explain the procedures involved in applying for our scholarships.
The meeting will be held at the ESC (located at 522 Glenwood Ave. in New Boston) on Thursday, December 1, at 5:30pm. You will need to enter the building through the gym doors under the black awning (between our building and the church) and follow the signs to Room A on the 2nd floor. If you drive through the alley between our building and the church there is parking behind our building near the entrance that you’ll use. There is also parking in the lot across the street from our building.
In order to attend this meeting you must pre-register with Sharee Price by emailing her at sprice@scoesc.org or by calling her office at 740-354-0229 no later than Friday, November 18 at 4:00 p.m. Packets containing application materials and explanations of the application process will be made available for each family that pre-registers for the meeting.
Students who wish to apply for an ESC Scholarship must also apply for an OAGC Scholarship and both applications will be available on our website at https://www.scoesc.org (click on GIFTED, then on ESC Summer Enrichment Scholarships). OAGC Applications are due on February 15, 2023 and ESC
Applications are due on March 10, 2023.

PWHS will be holding a FAFSA night on November 9th at 6:00 pm in the high school library. This is a good opportunity for you and your parents to complete the FAFSA or have any questions answered. For more information, contact the Guidance office.
