Volleyball info: The game at Minford originally scheduled for 9/25 will now be played on 9/23.
The game at Oak Hill originally scheduled for 10/10 will now be played on 10/9
Attention volleyball players, parents, and fans: The volleyball game originally scheduled for September 25th at Minford has been moved to September 23rd.
The PWHS football game on Friday, 9/13/19, at Coal Grove has been pushed back to 7:30 p.m. due to the heat.

The deadline to register for the Oct. 26 ACT is Friday, Sept.20.
*Seniors, many scholarship deadlines will be coming up Jan. - April of 2020. You have two ACT tests available before January -October and December- so these are the most desirable dates for scholarship purposes.
Softball is holding rotational/scheduled conditioning workouts on Sept. 11. The workouts will be 5:00-7:00 at the facility. Contact Dani Colemen and to be scheduled for a time frame to work and get better! Wear appropriate attire, tennis shoes, glove, and bring a drink.
Members of the Swim Team should plan to meet in the high school tiered room on Monday, September 2, at 7pm. We will be finishing our lock down buckets. Anyone else that is seriously interested in being part of the swim team should plan to attend.
Reminder: The football game this Friday, August 30, versus Columbus KIPP has been changed from an away game to a home game beginning at 7pm. Come out and support our players to victory!! Season passes will not work for this game. Cost is $5 per adult and $3 for students.

Dear Parent/Guardian:
Portsmouth West High School is eagerly awaiting the start of the 2019-2020 school year! We expect big accomplishments from our students and staff. Below are some important dates and times to start off the school year!!
Open House will be held on August 15th, 2019 from 6-7pm. Parents and guardians are welcome to tour our school buildings as well as our new athletic building that evening.
On the following day, Friday August 16th, our annual āMeet the Teamā night will be held. At that time coaches and advisors will introduce their respective athletic teams and the band in the football stadium. Immediately afterwards as already posted on this website is our Senator Spirit Club fund raiser dinner. The dinner will be held in the PWHS cafeteria. Check earlier post for details about the dinner.
Additionally, Portsmouth West High School has adjusted its time schedule from last year. Below is the new time schedule for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year:

Our student handbooks will also be available online. We strongly suggest that you as parents/guardians read over the contents of the handbook and sign off that you have read the information. Please review the policies in regards to the dress code, student discipline and emergency procedures. Some of these policies have been updated to improve our school climate and culture. Our dress code will have a point of emphasis this school year on jeans. Students should refrain from wearing torn, cut or pants with holes. We want to encourage an academic atmosphere where students take pride in their studies, and overall performances both in and out of school.
Our teaching staff will engage in professional development from Wednesday, August 14th till Friday, August 16th. Students officially will begin the 2019-2020 school year on Monday, August 19th.
