Parents of students entering 7th grade:

The Ohio Department of Health (per Ohio revised code 3313.67)
REQUIRES ALL STUDENTS ENTERING THE 7th GRADE to have:
One dose of Meningococcal vaccine (Serogroup A,C, W, and Y) AND one dose of Tdap vaccine.

Vaccinations should be received prior to entry of the first day of the school and no later than the 14th day of school:
September 5, 2024
As with other school immunization requirements,
students without proof of required vaccinations after this date are subject to exclusion from school.

Please contact your child’s physician or the Scioto County Health Department (740)355-8358 to make an appointment. Immunizations are also provided at many local pharmacies.
Please forward the record to the school office when your child receives his/her immunization and it will be placed in their health file. It may also be faxed directly to Portsmouth West Middle School at (740)858-0331.

**Please note: There is also a vaccine for Meningococcal Serogroup B which does not satisfy or replace the state vaccine requirement. This is a different and optional vaccine**

Please join us for our annual "Meet the Teacher" Open House Monday August 11th @ 6pm.

When you arrive, please enter through the front doors and proceed to the cafeteria to retrieve your students schedule.

Portsmouth West Middle School will be holding its end of year award assemblies on Thursday May 22nd. The 7th and 8th grade assembly will begin at 7:45 am (the time has been moved up due to the 8th grade trip to WebXtreme in Cincinnati) and the 5th and 6th grade assembly will begin at 9:00 am.

Due to transportation issues the MS Girls Basketball game scheduled for this evening (12/19) v. Symmes Valley has been canceled. The MS Boys Basketball game @ Symmes Valley is still scheduled.

The PWMS Pantry will be open again after our long break! Our first open hours will be this Thursday 11/7/2024 from 3 PM to 4 PM. As always, the pantry can be accessed at door 14 on the back side of the school. As additional hours are determined we will post more! The pantry is for the use of any family with students in the district.

Due to power outages and poor road conditions, all Washington-Nile Local Schools will be operating on a TWO-HOUR DELAY for Monday, September 30, 2024.

From Chris Rapp PWHS Principal: Washington-Nile will be conducting their Designer Purse Bingo to raise money for the UCAN Legacy Scholarship Fund Thursday, September 12. Doors will open at 5:00 pm. PWMS Athletes: Students who are planning to participate in school affiliated sports this summer and fall must have a completed physical on file in the office. Please make sure to get your completed physical turned into the office as soon as possible. Each physical covers a student for a calendar year.
