Senator Families! It's not too late!
There is still time to enroll your student in our summer school program. Senator Summer Camp runs Monday-Thursday, and ends on August 3. The focus of the camp is reading and math with two exciting REWARD TRIPS for those attending regularly. Bus pickup/drop off, breakfast, and lunch will be provided for all students. This is a great opportunity for your student to get some additional academic support and help prevent that summer slide.

Senator Summer Academy will begin on Monday, July 10th and run through Thursday, August 3rd.
-We will be in session Mondays - Thursdays.
-Drop off will begin at 9:05 a.m at Door # 10 (gym side, where drop-off occurs normally during the school year)
Pick-up will begin at 1:30 p.m, also at Door # 10
-Bus transportation will be provided to multiple drop-off/pick-up sites throughout
-Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
-ELA and Math instruction will be provided, with an emphasis on reading.

Party in the Parks!
Portsmouth West Elementary Activity classes are doing a fundraiser to raise money for “extras” for our students!! Extra equipment and materials for PE, art, music, and technology classes!! Extra “fun day” supplies!! Extra incentive program rewards!! All the money raised will benefit our own elementary school students. Please consider purchasing some delicious donuts.
Each box contains 25 gourmet donuts.
Each box costs $25, the school gets $10 for each box sold. (please collect the money at time of sale)
Orders and money need to be turned in by Tuesday May 9th. (all orders are pre-paid and will only be filled if payment has been received)
Delivery for 2-4 will be Thursday May 11th (parents can pick up boxes of donuts in the cafeteria beginning at 3:00
Delivery for K-1 will be Friday May 12th (parents can pick up boxes of donuts in the cafeteria beginning at 3:00
Each student selling 5 boxes of donuts or more will receive their very own sports ball.

The Washington-Nile Local School District will be offering summer school. The Senator Summer Camp begins on July 10 and ends on August 3. The camp will be offered Monday-Thursday. The focus of the camp is reading and math (M-Th) with two Reward Trips. Transportation, breakfast, and lunch will be provided for all students. We have a MOUNTAIN of coats, jackets, sweatshirts, etc. in our lost and found. Any items unclaimed by the end of this month will be donated to charity. You are welcome to come in and look through them and take what belongs to your child. Just stop in the front office to sign in and get a pass. Thank you!

The third and fourth grade students will be taking their State Reading Test beginning tomorrow. Please make sure your child gets a good nights rest each day this week and encourage them to eat breakfast- at home or at school. Encourage them to work hard and give their best effort each day; this is their chance to show how much they have learned and grown academically this year.

Kindergarten Registration
Enrollment
If your child will be 5 years old on or before Sept. 30, 2023 they are eligible for Kindergarten.
If your child has NEVER attended West Elementary
Your first step to Kindergarten Registration is to fill out Final Forms -which is the online portion of registration.
To begin, sign in to: https://washingtonnile-oh.finalforms.com/students
If you already have older students enrolled in our district, you can add your Kindergarten student to your account. Make sure you are on the 2023-24 school year.
If you do not, choose New Account under the Parent heading to complete Finalforms. Again, make sure you are on the 2023-24 school year.
After completing Finalforms, you will be contacted within a few days by email with a list of documents required to set up an appointment for your child’s Kindergarten screening.
Screenings for NEW to West students will be May 24th from 11:30 am -6:30 pm and May 25th from 9am – 3:30 pm. We will have more information for you then.
Preschool students moving to Kindergarten for 2023-24
You do not need to complete registration online and you do not need to set up an appointment for assessment. It will be done during the school day before school lets out.
Around June 6th you will receive an email with instructions on how to update your child’s Finalforms for the 2023-24 school year, what documents you will need to bring and how the new year will begin.

Friday, March 31st, we will be having a fundraiser to support the family of the child involved in the accident this weekend. Our theme will be: "West Kids Wear Blue for Wyatt." (He attended East schools). We are asking for a donation of any amount. We need to show our Senator spirit as we support this family in their time of need.
