WNLS Re-opening Plan

The Washington-Nile Local School District has crafted a re-opening plan that correlates with the  Scioto County COVID-19 Alert Level as determined by the Ohio Department of Health.  Washington-Nile Local Schools may find it necessary to increase the operating level depending on conditions within the school district and/or local community.

WNLSD will be sending out more school re-opening details in the weeks to come. The color level for re-opening school and instructions will be relayed to parents prior to the first day of school via "One Call", school webpage, and other social media. If you have any questions or concerns not addressed in the following attachments, please contact your school principal.

Level 1 / Yellow / Low Risk

  1. All students attend school within recommended guidelines.
  2. The Senator Virtual Learning Academy will be available for 100% remote learning. Availability will be limited.
  3. Staff and faculty will report as regularly scheduled.

Level 2 / Orange / Caution

  1. Grades 3-12 will attend on a 50% rotation. Students will report 2 days a week for face to face instruction. The remaining 3 days will be remote learning.
  2. Grades PK-2 will attend at 100% four days per week (Monday - Thursday) . Fridays will be remote learning.
  3. Groups will be determined by geographical area.
  4. Group “A” will attend school in person on Monday and Tuesday. Group “B” will attend on Wednesday and Thursday. All students will learn remotely on Friday.
  5. In order to balance student attendance, students opened enrolled from Portsmouth City School District will attend on Monday and Tuesday. All other open enrolled students will attend on Wednesday and Thursday.
  6. The Senator Virtual Learning Academy will be available for 100% remote learning. Availability will be limited.
  7. Staff and faculty will report as regularly scheduled.

Level 3 / Red / High Risk

  1. Grades 3-12 will attend on a 50% rotation. Students will report 1 day a week for face to face instruction. The remaining 4 days will be remote learning.
  2. Grades PK-2 will attend at 100% two days per week (Monday and Wednesday) . Other days will be on-line.
  3. Groups will be determined by geographical area. Group “A” will attend school in person on Monday. Group “B” will attend on Wednesday. All students will learn remotely on Friday.
  4. In order to balance student attendance, students opened enrolled from Portsmouth City School District will attend on Monday. All other open enrolled students will attend on Wednesday.

Level 4 / Purple / Severe Risk

  1. Online Learning is implemented for every student; paper packets will be provided for those with limited or no internet access.

  3. Staff and faculty will report as regularly scheduled.
