On behalf of the Washington-Nile Local School Boards of Education, we are pleased to announce that the board selected Linda Shaw as the Principal of Portsmouth West Elementary.
Candidates for the position completed a very thorough interview process and Mrs. Shaw was selected from a pool of extremely qualified applicants. We have confidence in her leadership, expertise and experience.
Mrs. Shaw graduated Summa Cum Laude from Ohio University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. In 2005, she completed the Rural Principalship Program through Ohio University earning a Masters in Educational Administration.
As a classroom teacher in grades K-5, she taught at Notre Dame, Lewis County and South Webster schools. She spent 14 years at South Webster teaching both second grade self-contained and fourth grade at-risk reading classrooms. Prior to being employed as an Assistant Principal at Portsmouth West Elementary, she organized and co-led the After School Mall Program at Bloom-Vernon Local School District.
Mrs. Shaw commented, "I am married to my high school best friend and we are blessed with three children and seven grandchildren. I am committed to this district; I feel called to be here to serve the students, staff and community."
We appreciate the efforts of those who served on the screening and interview committees. The administration and Board of Education are looking forward to the continuation of quality education for all students.
Congratulations to Mrs. Shaw!
