Portsmouth West Middle School Chamber Choir went to OMEA Large Group Competition and received a superior rating in Class A, which is the hardest class the Jr. High can compete in. They received a superior rating from each of the three judges. They had to sing three songs of contrasting styles for these judges. They were the only Jr. High choir to compete, and we were one of 22 bands and choirs that had competed. They were one of five groups to receive a superior!
This past fall PWMS was honored to received the State Of Ohio Department of Education Momentum Award. The award recognizes schools for exceeding expectations in student growth for the year. Schools must earn straight A's on all value-added measures on the report card. The school or district must have at least two Value-added subgroups of students, which includes gifted, lowest 20% in achievement, and students with disabilities.
Congratulations Portsmouth West Middle School administration, staff, and students on a job well done!
